Standards are the responsibility of the Türk Standardlari Enstitüsü. The TSE was established by statute in 1960, and is accountable to the Prime Ministry.
Accreditation is the responsibility of the Turkish Accreditation Agency. TÜRKAK was established by statute in 1999.
Legal metrology falls within the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT).
Scientific metrology is the responsibility of TÜBITAK Ulusal Metroloji Enstitüsü (UME), the national measurement institute*. UME was established in 1992 by the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TÜBITAK) at the request of the Prime Ministry.
Except for ionising radiation where TAEK is responsible.
