In the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China standards, accreditation, and scientific metrology fall within the remit of the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC).

Within the ITC, accreditation falls under the Hong Kong Accreditation Service (HKAS) and scientific metrology under the Standards and Calibration Laboratory (SCL)^*. Although standards are the responsibility of the ITC, Hong Kong does not have a central standards body developing and issuing domestic standards. ITC promotes internationally accepted standards.

Legal metrology is the direct responsibility of the Customs & Excise Department (C&ED).

* Except for metrology in chemistry, where GL is the designated laboratory.
