In Saudi Arabia, standards, accreditation and metrology all fall within the remit of the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization. SASO was established by Royal Decree in 1972.

SASO is a member of ISO, IEC and OIML, but although it has responsibility for accreditation and metrology, it is an affiliate member of ILAC, but not a member of IAF, nor is it recognised by BIPM as an NMI.

Saudi Arabia is a member of AIDMO, a regional body with interest in standards and accreditation. SASO is not named as a specific member, but is the most likely body to represent Saudi Arabia in AIDMO at a technical level.
